“As long as the national government is needed, we will be here. We are not leaving.”

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday committed the national government’s full and continued support for the people of Cebu following the devastation caused by Typhoon Tino.

Speaking after the situation briefing at the Cebu Provincial Capitol, President Marcos said the national government will not leave until families affected by the typhoon are back on their feet.

“We will be helping the families of those na naging casualty. We will help them to recover, put them back on their feet and do what we can to make up for the loss that they have suffered,” the President said.

“I made the same promise to Cebu, your Governor and your Mayor, that as long as the government, the national government is needed, we will be here. We are not leaving,” President Marcos added.

The President expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of lives, assuring affected families that the government will continue to assist them in recovering from the disaster.

Prior to the situation briefing, the Chief Executive visited the Municipality of Liloan and the City of Talisay to oversee the relief and recovery efforts being conducted by various government agencies.

President Marcos said aside from providing the essential needs such as food and water to displaced families, the government will also extend financial assistance to those whose homes were damaged.

“Ang binibigay natin ngayon, 5,000 para sa mga partially damaged na bahay at 10,000 para sa completely damaged na bahay. Para mayroon silang magamit para makapagtayo na naman sila ulit ng bahay,” the President said.

Presiden Marcos added that medical teams have also been deployed to treat injuries and prevent disease outbreaks in evacuation centers.

The President noted that the primary damage from the typhoon came from severe flooding rather than strong winds. He said the existing flood control structures, such as dikes and protective barriers, were damaged by the volume of rainfall.

President Marcos also discussed the government’s relocation plans for families living in no-build zones. He said coordination with local government units (LGUs) is ongoing to identify safe relocation sites and provide temporary shelters for those who cannot return to their homes yet.

Meanwhile, the President reminded local officials to remain vigilant and prepared, even though the incoming weather disturbance is not expected to directly affect the Visayas region.

“Sa tingin namin, hindi naman yata dadaan dito sa Visayas pero mag-ingat pa rin lahat. At hindi natin alam dahil kami kung minsan lumilipat. Kami naman ngayon, Northern Luzon and Central Luzon ang nag-aabang para dito sa Uwan na parating,” President Marcos said.

Severe Tropical Storm Fung-wong is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday midnight or early Saturday morning. It will be called Uwan locally. | PND

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited on Friday the wake of fallen Philippine Air Force (PAF) personnel who died in a helicopter crash in Agusan Del Sur on November 4.

During his visit at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City, President Marcos extended his deepest sympathies to the families of the PAF personnel who died in the line of duty and service to the nation.

The Commander-in-Chief offered prayers and paid tribute to the courage and dedication of the PAF personnel, recognizing their ultimate sacrifice for the Filipino people.

President Marcos was received by Major Gen. Pablo E. Rustria, PAF acting vice commander, along with other senior PAF officers.

According to PAF, the helicopter crash happened while the six PAF personnel were conducting Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) operations in the aftermath of Typhoon Tino.

In a Palace briefing on Wednesday, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said President Marcos had ordered immediate assistance and support for the families of the victims.

The PAF confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that one of its Super Huey helicopters encountered a mishap near the vicinity of the 60th Infantry Battalion in Agusan del Sur. | PND

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assured on Friday that there is a sufficient supply of relief assistance for families affected by Typhoon Tino in Cebu province.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian gave the assurance during President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s visit to Tiltilon Elementary School in Barangay Cotcot, Liloan, on Friday.

“Our supply is more than enough. We have a repacking center in Cebu. Tuloy-tuloy ang pag-repack. May stockpile na pero tuloy-tuloy pa din,” Gatchalian said.

Hundreds of families are currently staying in various evacuation centers in Liloan, one of the areas most heavily affected by the typhoon.

The DSWD secretary said the DSWD has already distributed a total of 69,000 family food packs to various local government units (LGUs), including the hardest-hit cities such as Cebu City, Mandaue, and Talisay.

The DSWD aims to distribute 200,000 family food packs to LGUs by Saturday.

“So, we assure all the local government units we will continue to augment para mabigay sa mga naging biktima,” Gatchalian said.

Aside from family food packs, the DSWD will also provide cash assistance to families with totally or partially damaged homes, depending on the results of the agency’s assessment.

Gatchalian said the DSWD currently maintains a stockpile of two million family food packs, prepositioned in strategic warehouses nationwide, to ensure a rapid disaster response.

Apart from his visit to Liloan, President Marcos also visited the Talisay Sports Academy Center in Talisay City, which currently serves as an evacuation center for 276 families, or 1,110 individuals.

The President likewise inspected the Mananga Bridge in Talisay City to assess the extent of the typhoon’s damage.

The bridge, constructed in 1983, serves as a vital link along the Cebu South Coastal Road, facilitating traffic between southern Cebu and the surrounding areas.

Ayon kay DOH-Central Visayas Development Management Officer Rolly Villarin, nagbibigay rin ang DOH ng libreng konsultasyong medikal at mga pangunahing gamot, kabilang ang maintenance medicines, antibiotics, doxycycline para sa pag-iwas sa leptospirosis, at anti-tetanus vaccines para sa mga may sugat.

Dagdag pa niya, isinasagawa rin ang regular na pagbabakuna sa mga bata upang maiwasan ang posibleng pagkalat ng mga sakit.

Sinabi rin ni Villarin na nagsasagawa ang DOH ng Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) assessments upang matiyak na ligtas ang tubig sa evacuation center para sa pag-inom at iba pang gamit.

Minomonitor din ng kagawaran ang kalagayan ng mga bata, buntis, at mga ina na nagpapadede upang matiyak na sapat ang kanilang nutrisyon at may sapat na suplay ng gatas para sa mga sanggol.

Liloan is among the areas most severely affected by the typhoon, with numerous casualties and widespread damage reported.

The President visited Tiltilon Elementary School in Barangay Cotcot, which is currently serving as an evacuation center for 126 families, or 509 individuals.

During his visit, President Marcos distributed family food packs, health kits, hygiene kits, and sleeping kits from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The DSWD also provided hot meals to evacuees staying at the school.

To ensure the safety and well-being of evacuees, the Department of Health (DOH)- Central Visayas is conducting a rapid health assessment in the evacuation center.

According to DOH-Central Visayas Development Management Officer Rolly Villarin, the DOH is providing free medical consultations and essential medicines, including maintenance medications, antibiotics, doxycycline for leptospirosis prevention, and anti-tetanus vaccines for individuals with injuries.

He added that routine vaccinations for children are also being administered to prevent potential outbreaks of diseases.

Villarin also said that the DOH is conducting Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) assessments to ensure that the water in the evacuation center is safe for both drinking and utility purposes.

The DOH also monitors the condition of children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers in the evacuation center to ensure they receive adequate nutrition, including a sufficient supply of breast milk for babies.

Malacañang assured the public on Thursday that the government has enough funds to support relief and rehabilitation efforts in the aftermath of Typhoon Tino.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has already ordered the release of financial assistance to the affected LGUs, particularly in MIMAROPA, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Negros Island Region.

“Sa ngayon ay mayroon pa tayong pondo para sa ganitong mga klaseng sitwasyon,” Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a press briefing in Malacañang.

Castro said frontline agencies have quick response funds that can be replenished.

“At kung ito ay kukulangin lalong-lalo na sa mga LGUs, makakaasa sila na sila ay bibigyan po ng tulong mula sa Office of the President,” she added.

Various countries have expressed their sympathies to the survivors of the recent disaster.

Castro also said that several foreign partners have already expressed readiness to assist in recovery efforts on the ground.

On Thursday, President Marcos approved the proposal of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to declare a state of national calamity due to the devastation caused by Typhoon Tino and the preparation for the impact of incoming Typhoon Uwan.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered the release of PhP1.307 trillion in programmed funds for the fourth quarter of the year to support disaster relief, recovery, and rehabilitation efforts for communities affected by recent calamities, Malacañang announced Thursday.

Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said President Marcos’ directive aims to ensure that government resources are mobilized efficiently to help affected Filipinos rebuild their lives.

“Ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang pagpapalabas sa 1.307 trillion pesos programmed budget para sa fourth quarter ng taon. Layunin nitong matugunan ang mga pangangailangan ng mga kababayang sinalanta ng mga sakuna at sa mga kanilang agarang pagbangon at makapagsimulang muli,” Castro said in a Palace briefing.

The Palace Press Officer added that the President also instructed all government agencies to utilize the funds with integrity and effectiveness to stimulate economic growth and ensure that every peso contributes to the country’s continued recovery and development.

“Inatasan din ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. ang lahat ng tanggapan ng pamahalaan na gamitin ang pondo sa pamamagitan ng matuwid at epektibong paraan upang mapalago ang ekonomiya ng bansa,” Castro added.

Citing the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Castro said that a large portion of the budget will be allocated to social services to ensure that all Filipinos benefit from government spending.

Castro added that proper government spending, particularly in sectors such as infrastructure, health, education, and direct subsidies, generates more profits that help grow the economy and boost both consumption and investment.

“Naniniwala ang pamahalaan na kapag nagagamit nang tama ang pera ng bayan para sa imprastruktura, kalusugan, edukasyon o mga direktang subsidiya — mas maraming pera ang pumapasok — na tutulong sa pagpapalago ng ekonomiya ng bansa,” Castro said.

“Lumalakas ang konsumo at pamumuhunan dahil nakikita ng mga investors na tumataas ang pangangailangan para sa kanilang mga produkto at serbisyo,” Castro added.
