“As long as the national government is needed, we will be here. We are not leaving.”
“We will be helping the families of those na naging casualty. We will help them back on their feet and do what we can to make up for the loss that they have suffered,” ayon sa Pangulo.
“I made the same promise to Cebu, your Governor and your Mayor, that as long as the government is needed, we will be here. We are not leaving,” dagdag pa ng Pangulo.
| PND

“I salute you with the respect of a comrade and the faith of a Commander-in-Chief.”
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday cited the bravery of the Philippine Marines in fulfilling their duties to the Filipino people and the country, pledging continued government support to strengthen their capabilities.
In his speech at the 75th Philippine Marines “birthday celebrations” held at the Gallio Events Hall in Parañaque, the Commander-in-Chief vowed that the government will continue to provide the Philippine Marines with all the necessary modern tools to fulfill its mission.
“Under my watch, we will continue to provide you the means to match the mandate that you bear,” President Marcos said.
Amidst every challenge, the Marines’ strength and determination are part of the pillars of the country’s recovery, President Marcos said.
“Courage is your heartbeat. When others hesitate, you step forward. You are among the first to fight, you are the last to rest,” the President said.
Despite the danger that shadows the Marines’ mission, they gallantly step forward, fully aware of the risks they face, yet they never falter, President Marcos said.
But bravery alone cannot meet the challenges of the modern world, the President said.
A Marine who answers the call must never face tomorrow with yesterday’s tools, the President added.
“Be assured that the government is prioritizing the modernization of your combat capabilities, investing in establishing strategic bases, revitalizing our Self-Reliant Defense Posture Program, and strengthening maritime domain awareness,” the Chief Executive said.
Most importantly, the government is committed to maintaining the morale and welfare of the troops, marine personnel, and their families, the President assured.
But despite this, the Marines’ families continue to pray and fulfill their duties to the country, President Marcos said.
“Kaya naman sinisiguro ng inyong gobyerno na patuloy ang suporta, kalinga, serbisyong nararapat para sa bawat Marine at kanilang pamilya,”the Chief Executive said.
“And of course, to every active Marine, every retiree, every civilian support who has been steadfast through peace and peril alike: You have the nation’s deepest gratitude,” President Marcos said.
The President also thanked them for choosing this noble cause of service.
“Know I always stand with you. You have my full trust and confidence. As a proud member of the Marine Basic Officer Course Class of 01-79 who has marched and endured among you— I salute you with the respect of a comrade and the faith of a Commander-in-Chief,” President Marcos added. | PND

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday honored the Philippine Marines on their 75th anniversary, recognizing their decades of courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to national service.
“We gather here today to celebrate 75 years of valor, devotion, and the unyielding spirit of service that define the Philippine Marine Corps,” President Marcos said in his speech at the 75th Marine Birthday Celebrations held at the Gallio Events Hall in Paranaque.
“From a small volunteer contingent to today’s modern archipelagic coastal defense force, you have built a legacy of duty and conviction,” President Marcos said.
“Through countless dawns and dusks, you have stood guard over our shores and our lands—defending, responding, and rebuilding when duty calls,” the Commander-in-Chief added.
“Marines with wet and sandy boots lifting a child to safety, carrying relief supplies, restoring hope where it is needed most,” the President said. “These are the scenes that remind us of how courage and compassion can move us in the service of our people.”
The Commander-in-Chief said the Philippine Marines have acted swiftly in disaster response operations in Palawan following the recent onslaught of Typhoon Tino.
To support these efforts, the President has declared a state of national calamity, ensuring that all government resources are mobilized for the immediate relief and recovery of the people and the nation.
President Marcos said that, even as recovery continues, the government is already being called upon to prepare — this time for the approach of another typhoon, potentially stronger than the last.
“Thus, we will once again rely on your readiness, your discipline, and your heart for service as we brace for the upcoming weather and the typhoons,” the President told the Philippine Marines.
President Marcos also urged the Marines to continue helping the country secure its coasts, protect its people, and rebuild its communities.
During the celebration, a traditional cake-cutting ceremony was led by Maj. Gen. Vicente Mark Anthony Blanco III, Commandant of the Philippine Marine Corps (CPMC). As part of the custom, Maj. Gen. Blanco took the first bite of the cake — a symbolic gesture signifying unity, camaraderie, and the shared triumphs of the Marine Corps.
The second slice was offered to President Marcos as a symbol of the corps’ continuing dedication to the Republic of the Philippines.
The third slice was offered to the National Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro, represented by Undersecretary Angelito M. De Leon, as a symbol of continuous dedication to defending the nation. | PND

“As long as the national government is needed, we will be here. We are not leaving.”
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday committed the national government’s full and continued support for the people of Cebu following the devastation caused by Typhoon Tino.
Speaking after the situation briefing at the Cebu Provincial Capitol, President Marcos said the national government will not leave until families affected by the typhoon are back on their feet.
“We will be helping the families of those na naging casualty. We will help them to recover, put them back on their feet and do what we can to make up for the loss that they have suffered,” the President said.
“I made the same promise to Cebu, your Governor and your Mayor, that as long as the government, the national government is needed, we will be here. We are not leaving,” President Marcos added.
The President expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of lives, assuring affected families that the government will continue to assist them in recovering from the disaster.
Prior to the situation briefing, the Chief Executive visited the Municipality of Liloan and the City of Talisay to oversee the relief and recovery efforts being conducted by various government agencies.
President Marcos said aside from providing the essential needs such as food and water to displaced families, the government will also extend financial assistance to those whose homes were damaged.
Presiden Marcos added that medical teams have also been deployed to treat injuries and prevent disease outbreaks in evacuation centers.
The President noted that the primary damage from the typhoon came from severe flooding rather than strong winds. He said the existing flood control structures, such as dikes and protective barriers, were damaged by the volume of rainfall.
President Marcos also discussed the government’s relocation plans for families living in no-build zones. He said coordination with local government units (LGUs) is ongoing to identify safe relocation sites and provide temporary shelters for those who cannot return to their homes yet.
Meanwhile, the President reminded local officials to remain vigilant and prepared, even though the incoming weather disturbance is not expected to directly affect the Visayas region.
Severe Tropical Storm Fung-wong is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday midnight or early Saturday morning. It will be called Uwan locally. | PND

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited on Friday the wake of fallen Philippine Air Force (PAF) personnel who died in a helicopter crash in Agusan Del Sur on November 4.
During his visit at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City, President Marcos extended his deepest sympathies to the families of the PAF personnel who died in the line of duty and service to the nation.
The Commander-in-Chief offered prayers and paid tribute to the courage and dedication of the PAF personnel, recognizing their ultimate sacrifice for the Filipino people.
President Marcos was received by Major Gen. Pablo E. Rustria, PAF acting vice commander, along with other senior PAF officers.
According to PAF, the helicopter crash happened while the six PAF personnel were conducting Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) operations in the aftermath of Typhoon Tino.
In a Palace briefing on Wednesday, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said President Marcos had ordered immediate assistance and support for the families of the victims.
The PAF confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that one of its Super Huey helicopters encountered a mishap near the vicinity of the 60th Infantry Battalion in Agusan del Sur. | PND

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assured on Friday that there is a sufficient supply of relief assistance for families affected by Typhoon Tino in Cebu province.
DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian gave the assurance during President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s visit to Tiltilon Elementary School in Barangay Cotcot, Liloan, on Friday.
“Our supply is more than enough. We have a repacking center in Cebu.
Hundreds of families are currently staying in various evacuation centers in Liloan, one of the areas most heavily affected by the typhoon.
The DSWD secretary said the DSWD has already distributed a total of 69,000 family food packs to various local government units (LGUs), including the hardest-hit cities such as Cebu City, Mandaue, and Talisay.
The DSWD aims to distribute 200,000 family food packs to LGUs by Saturday.
“So, we assure all the local government units we will continue to augment para mabigay sa mga naging biktima,” Gatchalian said.
Aside from family food packs, the DSWD will also provide cash assistance to families with totally or partially damaged homes, depending on the results of the agency’s assessment.
Gatchalian said the DSWD currently maintains a stockpile of two million family food packs, prepositioned in strategic warehouses nationwide, to ensure a rapid disaster response.
Apart from his visit to Liloan, President Marcos also visited the Talisay Sports Academy Center in Talisay City, which currently serves as an evacuation center for 276 families, or 1,110 individuals.
The President likewise inspected the Mananga Bridge in Talisay City to assess the extent of the typhoon’s damage.
The bridge, constructed in 1983, serves as a vital link along the Cebu South Coastal Road, facilitating traffic between southern Cebu and the surrounding areas.
One lane of the bridge remains impassable due to cracks and other damage caused by flooding. | PND
